Volunteer Opportunity: Social Media Moderator

Thank you for showing interest in volunteering with Harm Reduction Circle! We are currently seeking a Social Media Moderator to take on oversight of the various social media accounts for Harm Reduction Circle.

About Us:

Harm Reduction Circle is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization (also known as an NGO) based in Irvine, California. Our mission is to reduce overdose & other drug-related harms using evidence-based strategies in numerous underserved populations. Programming includes overdose prevention outreach & education, overdose response, Naloxone distribution either using mail-based & mobile distribution programs. Notable accomplishments include providing overdose response training to 13,000 individuals & supplying more than 23,000 doses of Naloxone, & documented 171 successful overdose reversals & providing harm reduction services & education at more than 55+ concerts, music festivals, & other nightlife events.



Responsibilities:

  • Create & post content 3-5 times per week. Ideate, shoot, edit, caption & post.

  • Constantly explore harm reduction trends by generating relevant content.

  • Strategize ongoing marketing efforts & campaigns.

  • Monitor feeds across social platforms, moderate comments, & respond to comments & direct messages accordingly.

  • Respond & engage with comments across social channels with a judgment-free voice in all interactions.

  • Engage with key influencers, like minded brands & active, influential members of the community.



Experience:

  • 1+ years of social media experience

  • Fluency across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, & Youtube

  • Energetic, witty, spontaneous & creative

  • Positive, upbeat & collaborative personality

  • Demonstrates masterful verbal & written communication

  • Great attention to detail, ability to focus & strong follow through



Compensation:

This is an unpaid volunteer position. Currently, Harm Reduction Circle is a volunteer-run program. In the future this opportunity may lead to a full-time, grant funded, benefit earning position once adequate funding is available, but this is not guaranteed.
