Inner Circle Sanctuary 2023: Promoting a Culture of Consent, Safety, & Respect at Music Festivals

I. Introduction

We are excited to announce the launch of the Harm Reduction Circle's new initiative, the Inner Circle Sanctuary, which will be available at music festivals and other nightlife events starting in 2023. Our mission is to provide a safe and inclusive space for festival attendees, staff, and performers, and to offer support for mental health-related issues. The Inner Circle Sanctuary will be staffed by peer-experienced professionals who understand the importance of a non-judgmental environment and will serve as a liaison between harm reduction and medical services.

We believe that our new initiative will help to promote a culture of consent, safety, and respect at festivals, and we look forward to partnering with event organizers to make this a reality. Providing a safe and inclusive space for festival-goers is crucial for promoting a positive and healthy culture at music festivals. It's also important to prioritize mental health and provide support for those who may be struggling. Having peer-experienced professionals staff the Inner Circle Sanctuary is a great idea, as they will be able to relate to attendees and provide a non-judgmental and supportive environment. Liaising with harm reduction and medical services is also important for addressing any potential issues that may arise. Partnering with event organizers to make this initiative a reality is key, as it will require collaboration and communication to ensure that the Inner Circle Sanctuary is integrated into the festival experience in a meaningful and effective way. Overall, this is a great step towards creating a safer and more inclusive festival culture, and we hope that it will inspire other organizations to prioritize the well-being of festival-goers as well.

II. The Sanctuary

A. The Inner Circle Sanctuary is set up in our main 10ftx20ft space and is designed to be a haven of peace and tranquility, providing guests with a safe and comfortable environment. The inflatable seating and rugs create a soft and cozy atmosphere, and the ambient mood lighting enhances the calming effect. The inflatable seating can easily convert into a full-size bed, making it a comfortable place to rest and relax. The decor in The Sanctuary is carefully chosen to create a welcoming and nurturing environment, with fuzzy blankets and pillows adding an extra layer of comfort. Guests are encouraged to make themselves at home and take advantage of the warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether seeking emotional support or simply taking a break from the stresses of daily life, The Sanctuary is the perfect place to unwind and recharge.

B. In addition to The Sanctuary, we have a second optional space that measures 10ftx10ft. This space is specifically designed for individuals who require individual attention or medical triage and is used on a case-by-case basis. The space is essentially a replica of our Inner Circle Sanctuary, with similar inflatable seating and rugs that create a comfortable and safe environment. It provides a private and secure space for those who need privacy or medical attention and can be much less intimidating than a traditional medical facility.

C. The Sanctuary is staffed by peer-experienced professionals who provide mental health support and promote a non-judgmental environment. Our team understands the importance of creating a safe and inclusive space and can assist guests in navigating harm reduction and medical services.

E. The Sanctuary is available 24/7 for the duration of the event to ensure guests have access to support and resources whenever they need it. Our hours may be limited based on volunteer support, or the needs of the event.
