Harm Reduction Circle has been invited to provide harm reduction at Desert Disco 2 (Presented by Audio Alchemy & Test Crash) which will include but not limited to: Art ▪︎ Music ▪︎ Poetry ▪︎ Spoken Word ▪︎ Visuals ▪︎ Lights ▪︎ Disco Theme ▪︎ Harm Reduction Circle

The average temperature in Bakersfield, CA in late-August for a typical day ranges from a high of 99°F (37°C) to a low of 65°F (19°C), so pack accordingly. Medium winds expected so be sure to stake down any canopies & tents.

Limited food & water will be available for purchase on site, so be sure to pack plenty of water for harsh desert conditions. Tickets are sold online at Event Brite & at the door. Please be mindful of this and pack out any trash that you bring to the desert.

Our Responsibilities & Duties as the Harm Reduction Team:

By participating with the Harm Reduction Team at Desert Disco 2, we have been entrusted with the important responsibility of creating a welcoming & safe space for event attendees. Our primary focus is to prioritize the well-being & comfort of all guests, ensuring they have an enjoyable & secure festival experience. Here are more details about our specific responsibilities & duties:

Harm Reduction Supplies: We distribute essential harm reduction supplies such as condoms & earplugs to promote safer practices & prevent potential risks associated with sexual health & hearing damage. By providing these items, we empower attendees to make responsible decisions & take care of their well-being.

Emotional and Psychological Support: We offer support to guests who may feel overwhelmed or experience emotional & psychological distress. Our team is trained to consult with medical professionals as needed & provide assistance to individuals in crisis.

Drug Checking and Education: We provide drug checking services & accurate drug education to promote informed decision-making among event-goers. Our goal is to ensure attendees have the knowledge & tools to make informed choices regarding substance use.

Overdose Prevention: We distribute Narcan and provide overdose response training, equipping attendees with the knowledge & resources to respond effectively to overdose emergencies.

Essential Supplies: We ensure that essential items such as water, electrolytes, sunscreen, condoms, & other hygiene products are readily available to attendees. This helps maintain their physical well-being & ensures they have access to necessary supplies throughout the event.

Collaboration: We collaborate with event organizers, artists, & attendees to raise awareness about harm reduction practices & promote a culture of safety & well-being at Desert Disco 2. We work closely with the event crew to provide overdose response training & Naloxone provisions prior to the event.

By fulfilling these responsibilities & duties, we contribute to creating a safe & inclusive environment for all attendees. Our dedicated efforts support the overall safety, health, & positive experience of everyone participating in Desert Disco 2.
